Diving in Malapascua, Cebu

Day 5

Woke up to a shock when the dive shop tells us that there aint any boat going off to Maya town as the weather was real bad. Malapascua, or in fact, the philipines was caught in 2 low pressure current and thus the wind was real strong this morning. And they refused to refund us the dives that was cancelled due to weather. Instead they put in on credit. Now we had 4 dives on credit with Thresher shark divers. I don't really know when am I going back there again but guess not in the near future. Was quite dissappointed with the way the shop handled the situation but i dun wana point fingers at them either. Finally, they got us a boat but it charges 5 times as much to bring us back to Maya. In faith and trusting that because God will bless me with safety, we took the offer. Blessing is we safely got to Maya and while on the way, I had a vision that angels surrounded the boat. The Boat ride wasnt as rough as we thought it would be. All thanks to Abba. You might say that I'm overly-religious or imaginative. But that fact was that the vision was in my head is as true as the sun rises from the east. Rest of the journey was like pressing the reverse button on the scenes when we were getting to Malapascua. Felt a lit depressed when I got down the plane back to Singapore, back to reality. How I wish I was still at Malapascua with the ocean wind blowing against my face.

Day 4

Was informed in the morning that we cant go back to catch the thresher this morning. Weather was bad and the wind was very strong. So we went to a nearby dive site that was just discovered. Not bad. Saw a huge octopus and potato cod. We managed to convince Alda that she's not in condition to dive as she's having diahorrea. Well, something happened along the way, which we "unwillingly" promised Alda not to disclosed. But the incident had Isaac and me scurrying across the island, thro' the town in our wet suits... freaking like Batman and Robin (I was in a super fitting ripcurl surfing suit and Isaac was in his zipped up half suit top and boardshorts.) Well, spent the rest of the day lazing and sleep in the resort room.... sianz

Day 3

Thresher!! Thresher!! Finally! Finally, I saw thresher. I was so excited that I didn't know I set my camera to photo instead of video. And when i press the capture button.... BISH!!! The flash went off. OH MAN!!! I nearly wana die there. How I wish God will just open the heavens and suck me up. So embarassing... the DMs had emphaised that flashes will frighen the Thresher away. Well, at least I caught a glimplse of the thresher. So we swam over to shark point and voala!! another Thresher. I fumble again and only manage to catch the beauty on video for 2 bloody seconds. Such beauty. Of cos we went back in the afternoon to Monad Shoal.... not to catch thresher.... but mantas.... we waited and waited and finally!... 3mins before deco, it came, graciously gliding thro' the blues. Perfect.... it was perfect.

Day 2

Woke up at 0445hr to get ready for thresher dive! So excited! But in the end, we saw only 3 devil rays. No Threshers.... haiz. Not bad actually. The devil rays' still good. Took a good rest after the dive before we join the feista on the sea. Riding the waves with so many boats is cool. Feels like some "pirated of the carribean". hah. After a while, I was so confused... they knew there is Jesus and there is God, but why did they worhip an idol of the virgin Mary?? I can only ask God to have compassion on them for they know not what they do. I can only trust that Salvation belongs to God. Follow on were dives at Gato island and a nite dive at Bantigue. No bad not bad. still manage to see a ghost pipe fish. Thresher dive again tomorrow morning!!! hah

Day 1
In was a blessing in disgusie when the flight was delayed. I realised I didn't bring my marco lens while driving to my bro's condo. Ended up sending dad home, rushed up to pick up my lens and took a taxi down to airport. Was greeted by 2 rather anixous and annoyed dive buddies. hah. Paiseh lah bro. Reached Cebu international Aiport about 615 in the morning and was greeted by the driver, endured a 3hr ride to maya town where we'll get a boat transfer to Malapascua. We settled in quickly and head off for our check out dive. And found out that Malapascua is having their feista tmr. Shoik. Cant wait for tmr's morning dive for Threshers. Yeah!!
